Previously since its inception in 1941, the District Institute of Education and Training, Shahpur, Begusarai was known as Junior Basic Teachers: Training school, Shahpur, in the district of Munger. The government of Bihar notified it as the Primary Teachers’ Education College in 1971. This was declared District Institute of Education and Training with effect from June 01, 1993 vide letter no. 490 dated 20.10.1993 of Mr. H. K. Sinha, Under Secretary, Govt. of Bihar. The last batch of the pre-service residential two years basic training course was 1990-1992.
The nearest railway station lakho is 03 Kms from here. This institution has lequate financial resources, accommodation. library and laboratory as prescribed in the norms of the NCTE. It fulfils all such other conditions related to infrastructural and instructional facilities required for proper functioning of this institution for a teacher education course.
